10 Conservation Planning for Greenhouse Gases in Animal Agriculture

چکیده

Abstract The United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) works in a voluntary and collaborative manner with agricultural producers to solve natural resource issues on private lands. One the key steps formulating solution those is conservation planning process that identifies issues, highlights one or more practice standards can be used address allows producer select practices make sense for their operation. In this process, USDA-NRCS looks at related soil, water, air, plants, animals, energy (SWAPA+E). With increasing focus Climate Smart Agriculture Forestry, air quality concern associated greenhouse gases particular importance. This presentation will determining whether from confined animal production standard options an identified production.

Greenhouse gases in intensive agriculture: contributions of individual gases to the radiative forcing of the atmosphere

Agriculture plays a major role in the global fluxes of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane. From 1991 to 1999, we measured gas fluxes and other sources of global warming potential (GWP) in cropped and nearby unmanaged ecosystems. Net GWP (grams of carbon dioxide equivalents per square meter per year) ranged from 110 in our conventional tillage systems to -211 in earl...

Mitigation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Animal Agriculture

Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Center Animal agriculture contributes about three percent of all anthropogenic (humancaused) greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. (EPA, 2011). Although this is small relative to other economic sectors such as transportation and energy, animal agriculture is also being called upon to defend its environmental impact and continually demonstrate its comm...

Greenhouse Gases

Examination of research into pole alternatives indicates that, without exception, studies have found that total energy requirements associated with wood materials are considerably lower than those of commonly substituted materials. The substitution of high-energy-intensive materials for low-energy-using wood materials would contribute substantially to an overall increase in carbon

Capturing greenhouse gases.

til very recently, scientists still deliberated whether human activity was altering the global climate. Specifically, was the release of greenhouse gases, which trap heat radiating from the earth’s surface, to blame? With scientific evidence mounting in favor of the affirmative, the discussion is now turning to what steps society can take to protect our climate. One solution almost certainly wi...
